WordPress
Overview:
WordPress is a web based blog publishing system written in PHP. It requires a MySQL database to store it's data in it. WordPress is the direct successor of b2\cafelog, developed by Michel Valdrighi. The lead developer is Matt Mullenweg. WordPress features a templateing system, search engine friendly permalink system, Integrated link management, multiple plugins support, nested categories, user access listings and logs, per IP bans, multiple authors, static pages, tag support and more. Note that WordPress blogs are one of the most indexed pages on the net by search engines like Google and Yahoo!
Installation:
Welcome to the WordPress installation. You probably see a screen telling you that the file wp-config.php is missing. You don't get this message, skip this step. If you do you should try one of the following: create an empty file (0 bytes), name it wp-config.php and upload it to the main directory of wordpress, OR you can push the button "Create a config file". As noted in the text, this may not work with your server.
The setup is ready to start. Here you're told you should need all the database settings before proceeding to the next step.
In the first field enter your database name. The second field is the Database username, then it's the database user's password. Next comes server host name, it's localhost in most cases so probably you don't need to change it. The last field is about the table prefix. It's highly recommended to have one, even if you have only one system installation, it's going to save you a lot of headaches in the future.
Here you can see that your asked for a title for your new blog. Also a contact e-mail is required. The last option is whenever to allow search engines to index your blog pages or not (ON is recommended).
Word press has been successfully installed. You can see your login information. The password is generated to be top-secure against brute attacks. Write those down, you can change them later after you login.
Welcome to your freshly installed wordpress and it's admin panel. Take some time to get familiar with it and to write a blog or two.
This is how your blog should look like. It's using the default WordPress theme, but you can freely download lots of cool themes from the WordPress website. Have a nice blogging :)
